The Sorrell Jewels Story

If you are new to Sorrell Jewels, I want to start by saying hello and a big thank you for visiting my website. I assume you have landed on this page because you want to find out more about Sorrell Jewels. You are in luck, because I’ve sat down and written out the journey so far.

Enjoy!

My name is Emily Sorrell, and yes my surname is so unique I even decided to name my business after it. I am obsessed with all things vintage (obviously), coffee, dogs, colourful clothes and of course rings! Two years ago, during the first COVID-19 lockdown in the UK I accidentally started my brand. Before I get ahead of myself though, I’m going to fill you in on life before and outside of Sorrell Jewels.

I grew up in Devon with my parents, brother and our dogs. I’m 24, but at the age of 13 after always being a healthy and sporty kid, I became very ill very quickly. After a year of being bed ridden most of the time with chronic fatigue and pain I was finally diagnosed with POTS Syndrome.

POTS is a condition that affects the Autonomic Nervous System, and it can be life changing and debilitating. In my case, over the course of a few years and an effective cocktail of medication my health has stabilised, but my condition still affects me each and every day. If you want to learn more about my condition, you can check out an article I wrote about it for Tummy Ache magazine here.

After missing school for two years, I was able to go back part time to complete my A levels. I then headed to Bristol for university where I studied Fashion Communication. As I neared the end of my final year, rumours of covid had started flying and before I knew it I was finishing my degree at home, back in Devon. Instead of heading off travelling, I was left with no idea what the future would hold.

To pass the time, and to help make some money I began selling some of my old jewellery collection, mainly rings, which I had been collecting ever since my early teens. It’s from here that Sorrell Jewels was born. It hasn’t been easy or smooth sailing but I wouldn’t change it for the world.

Once the second lockdown had lifted I was finally able to move to London and I got my beautiful dog, Elliot. Since then, Sorrell Jewels has continued to grow steadily. Firstly through selling on vintage platform Depop as a ‘Top Seller’, then starting to take part in markets, pop ups and events across London. For Christmas 2021, the Sorrell Jewels website was launched, which will continue to be the permanent online home for all things Sorrell Jewels.

So that’s how Sorrell Jewels came to be. I will be going into A LOT more detail about every part of my small business on this blog so keep your eyes peeled to learn more about sourcing, markets, the monthly ring boxes and more.

If you made it to the end of this, thank you for reading. I can’t wait for you to come along on the journey and witness the future of Sorrell Jewels.

Lots of love, Emily xxx
